Prices

Where do your prices come from?

We research each trade city by city from published price sources, then set a low, typical and high price for every job. How we price explains the method and lists the sources.

How accurate are they?

They're estimates, not quotes. Your price depends on your home, access, materials and timing. Use the range to judge a quote, not to replace one.

How often do prices change?

We update every guide each edition. The current edition is November 2026, shown at the top of every guide.

Can a contractor pay to change a price?

No. Pros can pay for a featured spot on a city guide, and that spot is labeled. Nobody can pay to change a price.

Is my quote fair?

Type it into the quote checker. It shows where your price sits against low, typical and high for your city.

Free quotes

Is it free for homeowners?

Yes. You never pay LocalGoingRate anything. Pros pay us when they take a job.

How does it work?

Tell us the job, your budget, ZIP and mobile. Casey texts you to confirm. Reply YES, and up to 2 local pros text or call you with a price. Get free quotes.

Who gets my number?

Only the pros who take your job, never more than 2. If one pro owns your city's territory, only that pro gets it. We don't sell or share your number with anyone else.

Why do you text me first?

To check the job is real before a pro pays for it. It keeps out spam, and it means the pros who contact you are serious.

Are the pros licensed?

Pros agree in our terms to hold the licenses and insurance their work needs. We don't check every license ourselves, so check theirs with your state's licensing board and ask for proof of insurance before you hire.

Do I have to hire anyone?

No. Compare prices, ask questions, say no thanks. There's nothing to sign or cancel.

How do I stop the texts?

Reply STOP to any text and we stop. Reply HELP for help.

For pros

How do I get leads?

Two ways. Own the territory: every verified lead from your city's guide for your trade goes to you only, $149 to $499 a month depending on the trade, after a free first month. Or pay per lead: $20 to $90 a lead depending on the trade, nothing monthly. Prices by trade.

What is a territory?

The whole city guide for your trade, not a ZIP code. While you hold it, every verified lead from that guide goes to you, and nobody else can buy it. First come, first served.

My city is taken. What now?

Join the waitlist for that city, or take pay-per-lead jobs in nearby cities. When a territory frees up, the waitlist hears first.

How many pros get each lead?

Pay-per-lead jobs go to at most 2 pros. Pros in the city get a 2-hour head start before a lead goes to nearby cities. A territory owner gets their leads alone.

What if a lead is bad?

Every lead you pay for has a 48-hour guarantee. If you try to reach the homeowner within 24 hours and they don't reply within 48, or the number is wrong, we refund the lead. Ask within 14 days. Refund policy.

Is there a contract?

No. Cancel any time from your dashboard. Pay-per-lead has no monthly fee at all.

How do I log in?

Go to your dashboard and type your mobile number. We text you a link. No password.

I got a text or email about a job. Why me?

Your business is listed for that kind of work near the job, in public map data or on your website. When someone nearby asks for a quote and no signed-up pro has it, we send it to one or two local pros, and your first one is free. The homeowner agreed to be contacted by up to 2 local pros. Reply YES for more jobs by text, or STOP and we won't contact you again.
