Does gutter cleaning cost by story change by city?
Yes. The same job costs more where labor and rent cost more. Here's how gutter cleaning prices in the biggest US metros compare with the US typical of $250.
Gutter cleaning prices in the 12 biggest US metrosEach city's typical gutter cleaning price against the US typical of $250.
The gutters on a two-story home are no dirtier than on a one-story, but the crew needs a longer ladder, more ladder moves and more care. That's why the typical price climbs from $175 for one story to $250 for two and $375 for three.
Above two stories, some jobs need roof access, rope gear or a lift. One national booking company adds $150–$300 to bring in a lift or rope gear on the tallest homes.

How to measure your gutters
Most homes have 150–200 ft of gutter. A quick rule: about one foot of gutter for every 10 sq ft of home, so a 2,000 sq ft house has about 200 ft. You can also pace the edge of the roof where gutters hang and add the porches and garage.
Then multiply. At $1.40 a foot, 200 ft on a two-story home is $280. At $1.00 a foot, 150 ft on a one-story home is $150.
03
What else moves the price
Steep roofs add about 15%, seamed gutters take a little longer than seamless ones, and packed gutters add $50–$150. Guards that have to come off add $30–$150.
Small homes don't always cost much less: many companies have a minimum charge, so a short run of gutter on a condo or townhouse still runs $75–$225.
04
How to compare quotes
Ask each company for a flat price for the whole house, with every roofline, downspout flushing and haul-away included. A low per-foot rate that leaves out the back of the house, the garage or the downspouts is not the real price.
