Hard water spots are minerals, like lime and calcium, left behind when sprinkler or hose water dries on the glass. A normal wash and squeegee won't lift them. Cleaners use mineral removers and fine pads, which takes extra time on each pane.
That is why removal costs $10–$30 a window on top of the clean. Older spots take longer and may not come off fully, so deal with them early.

What post-construction cleaning covers
After a build or remodel, windows carry paint specks, labels, caulk, stucco and plaster dust. Cleaners scrape each pane with a razor at the right angle, then wash, clean the frames and vacuum the tracks: $10–$22 a window.
On a normal clean, a few paint specks or old stickers are priced separately at $5–$15 a window.

How to keep the cost down
Point sprinklers away from windows — sprinkler water is a common cause of hard water spots. On a build, ask the builder whether the final clean is in the contract.
Get the price per window in writing, ask how the cleaner will protect the glass, and ask them to test one window first. Hire a company with liability insurance.

Watch out
Red flags
Be wary of anyone who starts scraping without looking at the glass first, or who says hard water removal is part of a basic clean. Ask what product and method they use.
